Donate

•Alumni Giving: World Service Corps has received direct funds from alumni and supporters. Donations in this manner help to support the sites and volunteers specifically. Some donations have been given in direct reference to a site or volunteer, while others have been allocated into the general World Service Corps operations fund. The full value of the donation is used only for World Service Corps operations and materials.

•World Ministries Tithes: World Service Corps is one aspect of the world ministries offered and supported by the Community of Christ. Most of the World Service Corps budget is generated through the general world ministry account. All money that is sent to world ministry is allocated based on the budget created by the Presiding Bishopric.

  • World Service Corps Scholarship Fund: A fund has been established through generous past donations that can be used specifically to assist those volunteers who cannot afford the initial costs of volunteering in the program. The volunteers are encouraged to use personal funds and fundraising in addition to the assistance provided by the scholarship. Donations made to this fund are held in a separate account from all other WSC funds and are only used for this purpose.

Understand Your Impact

As an alum, your continued support is critical to our work to providing ministry without boundaries. As of 2010, our alumni base grew to more than 270 volunteers, interns and international guides.

Your donations help us select, train, and support the service corps, cultivate our alumni network, and manage our entire operation. By donating, you also send an important signal to current corps members, fellow alumni, and private and public funders that you believe in the impact we're making within the Community of Christ and communities throughout the world.

Training/Debriefing Costs

Donations of all sizes have a real impact on WSC training and support. The small things that are available during this period are constantly being improved and evaluated to ensure that every penny is well spent, and that the volunteers, interns, and international guides are well prepared for their time of service. World Service Corps makes every dollar count. In 2010, more than 85 percent of our total costs went directly to programs and volunteer operations. The remaining 15 percent was used for marketing and recruiting.
